We all hum to Zimdancehall music, agree!

Like the ZBC jingles, Zimdancehall has been continuously played in our lives at most public platforms, Kombies, pubs,  and the likes.
Therefore it is correct to say that the age of Zimdancehall is not just a phase that the country is going through because its dawn is uncertain.
Most subcribes to this genre identify themselves as "ghetto youths" which mean a member of a community that abides to ghetto life style and hustling to earn a living.
The contents of the songs are now taking a  critical shift and a cause for concern, the genre is now producing songs that most people finds them difficulty to listen to because of the hate language in those songs. most of the artist that produce these "bad riddims" songs as they call them are also the ones that most Zimdancehall fanatics adore the most even though some of their songs are of a critical aptitude.

The reasons in tackling this age is to share some kind of light on the impact of music when listeners are quenching their thirst of local content and as a source of communication and inspiration that listeners get from the content distributed to them by this artist that only think they are practicing their artistic freedom enshrined to them in the constitution.

Zimdancehall:bad content

"the song my be simple, but the impact is always massive"

we are not reporting we mean it
This kind of thinking is what inspired the formation of this blog as way to identify the impact of Zimdancehall songs on youths.
most subscribers of this music genre identify themselves as the ghetto youths which to most of them it means a member of society that also subscribe to ghetto-hood life style and hustling to earn a living.

Zimdancehall has become force to reckon with in the Zimbabwe music industry. This genre of music has gained prominence in the country in the last few years and it is now well established and has a large support base especially from the youth. However the ‘message’ in the music has been put under a lot of scrutiny in light of that is it building or destroying us as a society.
Some of the lyrical content in the songs communicates and in a way influences hideous behaviour and in the process eradicating the good morals the society is striving to build especially in the youths. Some of the lyrics glorify drug abuse, violence and sexual immorality. Such tendencies are displayed in videos like “ndinongosimuzda musoro” released by Soul Jah Love which has much explicit lyrics and video content.Another artist Guspy Warrior also released a song praising the use of marijuana otherwise known as mbanje—“tipe chamba timone mone.”Violence is also a common feature emphasized in some of the lyrics of the music for example in the song by ‘Lady B’—"Akunyeyausipo mamisa, akutorera mudiwa wako mamisa” or Beat up anyone trying to snatch you love.

Zimdancehall Valentine in Bulawayo
tocky vibes
how many of Zimbabwean citizens can spend their Valentine listening to Zimdancehall music with their loved ones and not regret  the night.

To night,  Valentine's eve, a dance-hall artist,  Tocky Vibes, will be playing at Horizon pub Bulawayo and many wonder there the award winning artist will get the well deserved attendance.

How ever, to many of us the question is whether the Zimdancehall music is appropriate for such a special night for Zimbabweans who celebrate the night oh for the couples that will be at that pub.   Tocky Vibes is a highly rated artist in the Zimbabwean music arena. He belongs to the fast growing ZimDancehall music genre which has won considerable following especially from younger Zimbabweans. Tocky Vibes rose to fame with his hit song Amai which was liked by many for its unique lyrical content and this earned him new a name, Dancehall Priest
It appeared the past caught with Tocky when the media started churning reports linking the artist to a love affair with an under aged girl. Local media houses reported that Tocky fathered a child years back with a girl who was aged 13 then. The girl, identified as Linda James was said to have been living in Marondera with her mother and did not know where Tocky was living after his new found fame. She argued that Tocky was no longer taking care of his child
